Coaches

Azure DeMeules is very excited to be head coach of the Roosevelt Volleyball program. She played at Redmond High School a very long tiem ago before attending the University of Washington. In her free time, Azure likes eating, photoshopping, wandering around, building furniture and checking her email. Azure runs a small business doing detail work on boats when she is not coaching. What she likes most about coaching is yelling during games.

Stacey Dozono returned to RHS from a 2-year hiatus (from 2005-2007), resuming her position as assistant vasity coach. When asked to describe Stacey, many would say that she is a nice young lady. She played HS volleyball in Oregon before playing at MIT and now sets for her adult team in the area. Stacey works at Fred Hutch cancer research center and is a stud setter. If you play against her, you will lose. She also plays basketball, ultimate frisbee and xbox.

Lori Hidano is the head JV coach. She is currently an elementary school counselor in the Highline School District. Lory played competetive volleyball in Hawaii while in high school and went on to play for the SPU Falcons. If you listen closely, you can still hear her Hawaiian accent. After graduating from SPU, she taught and coached in Japan for seven years. She is proud to say that she has visited all 47 Japanese prefectures. She enjoys Japanese snacks, organizing things and making fun of Fred.

Fred Choy is our JV Assistant Coach. He has played competitive volleyball for many years as a right side hitter, middle blocker and setter. He still enjoys playing outdoor doubles and can be seen around Greenlake. He has experience in coaching competitive and recreational volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball. What Fred enjoys most about coaching is helping our girls develop their volleyball fundamentals and body mechanics. Fred's sports background also include state and national rankings in Taekwondo, extensive training in Judo, Hapkido, and Yoga. He has a BA from the University of Washington, a M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and is currently working on a D.Min. in Global Urban Leadership at Bakke Graduate University. He is a pastor at Seattle Community Church and enjoys working with third world leaders as the Director for the Center for Global Urban Leadership.

Kiara Jenkins is the head JVC coach for the Roughriders. She brings Starbucks treats as well as knowledge and enthusiasm to the program.
